Supervision is available to students, newly qualified/ practicing counsellors and experienced therapists alike.  Whether your practice is on a voluntary basis, through employment or if you have your own private practice; please call us to discuss your needs.

Alternatively we welcome discussions with organisations who are considering supervision on behalf of their staff and we are able to provide bespoke packages of support and training.

Supervision Aims:

  • To ensure best possible therapeutic use of the practitioners counselling sessions

  • To ensure that supervisees develop their counselling skills and resources

  • To ensure that supervisees develop their ability to reflect on the counselling process

Supervision is provided by qualified and experienced therapeutic staff and is available to practitioners across the breadth of counselling and psychodynamic theory bases.  Whether your primary practice is Person-Centred, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, TA; or you offer an integrative approach; please be reassured that Fine can cater for your supervisory needs.

We offer three primary roles in supervising counsellors:

Managerial;

  • A 'quality assurance' process to the counselling taking place
  • The monitoring of boundaries, standards and adherence to ethical codes of practice
  • Clarifying the responsibilities of the counsellor and, where applicable, the organisation

Supportive;

  • Facilitating exploration of issues raised
  • Supporting at all levels, and at all times
  • Re-stimulating and Re-energising the counsellor
  • Nurturing Confidence in the therapist

Educational;

  • Facilitating a better understanding of the client
  • Facilitating a greater understanding of clients responses & reactions
  • Facilitating an understanding of the dynamics in counselling relationships
  • Facilitating a greater understanding of the impact of different interventions/ tools
  • Facilitating greater self-awareness in counsellors 

Any supervision agreement is entered into with the sincerest of intentions to offer the best possible support, catered to the needs and experience of the supervisee.  The frequency and length of supervision sessions can be adapted to suit the needs of the counsellor, their regulatory body or the organisation for which they work.

 

The charge for sessions of one full hour in length begin at £50 with an £65 charge for a 90-minute appointment,  depending on time and venue of our meetings. There are concessions available for students and for newly qualified/ practicing counsellors; dependent upon case load levels.

Please note that there is a mandatory introductory session required for all new supervisees, which will last one-hour at a charge of £40.  This session cannot be included within your monthly supervision hours.
